What does the GCSE OCR certificate mean?
A GCSE OCR certificate usually means a certificate for a GCSE qualification awarded through OCR, which is one of the main UK exam boards.
GCSE = General Certificate of Secondary Education
OCR = Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations
So the certificate shows that the student completed and received a GCSE result in a subject that was examined by OCR.
It is not a different type of GCSE from other boards like AQA or Edexcel. It’s still a standard UK GCSE; OCR just tells you which exam board set and marked the exam.

What is OCR for GCSE?
Owned by the University of Cambridge, OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations) is an awarding body that uses around 8,000 examiners and assessors to set, mark and moderate exams and assessments sat by more than 1 million candidates in the UK each year.

What is an OCR qualification equivalent to?
OCR Nationals are also recognised by UCAS at Level 3, so studying them can help you get into university. A Level 3 Certificate 'Pass' is worth one A-level grade E – or 40 UCAS points – ranging up to a Level 3 Extended Diploma, which is worth 3 A-level grade As, or 360 UCAS points.

What is a good grade for OCR GCSE?
All GCSE subjects in England have been graded 1-9 since 2020, replacing the old A-G system, with 9 being the highest grade and 1 being the lowest, U means "ungraded". Pupils need to achieve a 4 for a "standard pass" and 5 or above for a "strong pass".
